Sopore, Apr 03 (KNO): Police here in north Kashmir's Sopore on Thursday seized over six vehicles, even as 71 challans were issued against traffic violators.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the special drive was aimed to enforce traffic regulations and ensure road safety.
It led to seizure of six vehicles and the issuance of 71 challans, he said.
Spearheading the drive, DySP Traffic North Kashmir, Mujahid Nazir, along with SHO Amargrah, Sajad Ahmed emphasized the importance of such initiatives in curbing reckless driving, overloading, and other traffic violations that endanger lives.
“This drive is part of our continuous efforts to instill traffic discipline among motorists. The increasing number of violations necessitates strict enforcement to ensure the safety of all road users. Our message is clear—traffic rules must be followed, and violators will face strict action,” said DySP Nazir.
It is noteworthy that the special drive focused on checking documents, overloading, helmet compliance for two-wheeler riders, and adherence to road safety measures.
Meanwhile, officials stressed that such drives would continue in the coming days to discourage irresponsible driving practices and create a safer commuting environment.
They, however, urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure smooth vehicular movement in the town—(KNO)
